I spy my little eye on… shoe faux pas

Shoes are a necessity to most outfits—unless you are walking the beach or you just got a pedicure. Some of you may be a little confused when seasons are changing which shoes you can wear with particular outfits. In the summertime many people wear strappy sandals, flip flops or open-toed wedges while in the winter time we stick to boots and closed –toed flats and heels.

However, lately I have spotted some new combinations with shoes like yesterday I witnessed a woman wearing brown tights with open-toed brown shoes. By open-toed I am not referring to a peep toe shoe, but a shoe that exposed all ten of her toes. Without my camera on me, I have tried to recreate the image below.

In case any of you have done that or were thinking about doing that, let’s nip that in the bud right now. We should not be wearing open-toed shoes with tights, panty hose and definitely not socks! According to some other sources, it is acceptable in the colder weather to wear tights with PEEP toed shoes. They specifically mention that you should only wear tights, but don’t wear panty hose with those shoes. So with Peep Toed you can wear only tights, NOT panty hose.

There is some controversy on this issue so please let me know what your thoughts are.

On another note about shoes for men—make sure your brother, father, husband or significant other matches his socks to his pants.  For more tips for matching socks please visit Men’s Fashion Tips.

That’s all.

  1. I think it is important to have those shoes that “goes both ways”

Basically there are certain fabrics that can be worn in the winter and the summer…leather goes both ways but I would say suede does not for example, same goes for that strawlike material.

If you are cold on a day where you want to wear peep toe just wear leggins instead and suck it up from your little toe to your upper ankle!!! Pain is beauty my friends!

  2. Yes I agree that there are shoes that can be worn in different seasons like both winter and summer. My message is that one must be careful when matching those shoes to coverings such as tights, leggins and panty hose. I do own a paid of peep toe shoes which I wear in both the summer and the winter when it isn’t terribly cold outside.
